In this section you find all about what being a member of OUSA and what this branches can mean to you. Although the OUSA is directly funded by the OU, it has considerable independence, which puts a lot of power and influence in the hands of its members. Hence we can

Act as voice in our catchment area for OU decision making bodies

Provide student support and aid in building up social networks

Arrange social events and activities for our student members

Inform student members of important events and activities
Like all O U students you will doubtless have work and/or family commitments as well as your studies and perhaps these have made you reticent to contact your local Branch. OUSA's branches are run by O U students, so everyone is mindful of the commitment required of distance learning students. Being part of your branch means you are free to determine your own level of involvement at your own pace.
There is also very much a social aspect, you might need to talk through your studies and need or be able to offer some moral support or you may want to become more involved in the running of your branch or regional forum, or in OUSA generally. Whatever your involvement your support and input will be greatly welcomed. OUSA relies upon student participation, especially at local level, so why not go along to your next branch event and join a group who keep the student voice alive.
Local branch newsletters and regional mailings contain more information on getting involved within your local branch. Use this website as well as your branch's FirstClass forum to keep up-to-date of events in your local area!
