Science Taster Tutorial: "Physics in Sport"

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

This workshop provides a first introduction to some fundamental physical concepts by using sports to explain them.

We will be considering energy and energy conservation, modelling and probability clouds. Some of the sports we will be mentioning are tabletennis, football (in time for the world cup in South Africa), tramolining, sumo wrestling, ski jumping, basketball, archery and anything else you are interested in. Be warned, a detailed knowledge of any of these sports is not necessary, and we will not be moving too much ourselves.
